A Tregunter kitchen — jars, fruit and a copper pan in soft window light

Preserves made
the slow
way.

Small-batch jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and curds — fruit, sugar, time, and nothing you couldn’t name yourself.

A close-up of small Tregunter apricot-curd jars on a white linen cloth — golden glow through the glass, sealed with brass-coloured lids.

The maker

It started with a curd she could eat again.

Sarah grew up loving curds — then a cow’s-milk allergy took them off the menu. So she set about remaking them with goat’s butter, which she can eat (and which happens to be lactose-free too). Lemon and raspberry came first; the raspberry is still her favourite. Everything is picked in season, set the long way round, and filled by hand.

I cook the way I was taught by my mum and both sets of grandparents — in season, by hand, without anything I wouldn’t want in my own jar.

We follow the fruit

In season right now

Sarah picks the fruit when it’s in season — some preserves (strawberry, rhubarb, fig) only get made while it’s actually on the bush. Others (gooseberries, raspberries, plums, anything foraged from the hedgerow) she freezes the day they’re picked, so they’re available all year round.

Are your preserves vegetarian or vegan?
Yes to vegetarian — and the vast majority are vegan too. The only exceptions are the curds (set with goat’s butter and egg) and the Fig & Honey chutney. People often assume the jellies are set with gelatine, but they’re not — they set on the fruit’s own pectin.
Are your preserves dairy-free?
Sarah has a cow’s-milk intolerance, so the whole range is cow’s-milk-free. Everything except the curds is fully dairy-free — the curds are set the traditional way with goat’s butter and egg, so they’re cow’s-milk-free but not dairy-free or vegan. Every product lists its allergens so you can check.
Which ones are gluten-free?
All jams, jellies, marmalades, curds and no-added-sugar preserves are gluten-free. Most chutneys are too, but a handful use distilled or malt vinegar, which contains barley — those are not gluten-free. Each product’s allergen list tells you which. Nothing contains wheat.
